REMINDER! 3 Yr. Old FIRE HOUSE FIELD TRIP – JUNE 1st

Tomorrow we will be visiting the Pawling Fire Department with our 3 year old classes.    We will learn about fire safety and all about a fireman’s job.  If you cannot accompany your child on this trip, please make arrangements with another adult or Sunshine parent to drive your child.  Thank you.

OTHER REMINDERS:

• Last Day of Regular Classes:  3 Yr. Old Class – June 13th and 4 Yr. Old Class – June 14th.
• 3 Yr. Old Luncheon/Moving Up Program is June 15th.  This luncheon is for students, teachers and family members.  Please plan to stay with your child.   (no regular classes this day)
• 4 Yr. Old Graduation Rehearsal at Lakeside Park is  June 7th at 9:15 and 1:15.  Please see the sign up sheets in the coat room for the time your child is scheduled to go.   Chaperones are needed to drive the children BUT rehearsal of the program is closed to parents.  (The children would like to surprise you!)
• 4 Yr. Old Graduation is June 16th and 17th.  Please check the class sheets on the bulletin board in the coat room for your child’s graduation date and time.

REMINDER: Horse Farm Trip tomorrow 9:15

• Please remember to apply sunblock as needed.  Also, boots might be a good idea.  We could be walking in mud or tall grass.
• If you cannot accompany your child on this trip, please arrange with another adult or Sunshine Parent to chaperone your child.   Per Akindale Farm’s request:  only one chaperone per child and no siblings please.  Thank you.
• We will be leaving the School at 9:15.

Horse Farm Field Trip

REMINDER:

• Tomorrow at 9:15… 4 Year Old HORSE FARM FIELD TRIP to Akindale Farm.  By request of the farm, no siblings are allowed on this trip.  One chaperone per student.  Thank you for your understanding.
• If you are not sure which day your child is attending this trip, please contact the school.

Pizza Field Trip

Mrs. Papa’s and Ms. Amanda’s 3 year old classes visited Uncle Mike at Mama’s Pizza in the Village of Pawling this week.  Thanks Uncle Mike for our pizza making lesson.  We will see you next week for part 2!

Reminder:  please check the board in the coatroom for names of students going to Mama’s Pizza on the 25th.

Enrichment, Music and Field Trips

Music

The Sunshine School welcomed Mr. Bob “The Music Man” to our school on Friday.  Mr. Bob taught the students about different string instruments and gave lessons in playing the dulcimer and the mandolin.  All the children had a turn playing the instruments…. and then the dancing began!

Enrichment

Also last week, our enrichment classes learned about sink or float.  This activity was an opportunity to introduce the students to the concepts of prediction and testing.  A wide variety of objects were used in this experiment such as cotton balls, plastic spoons, paper clips and pennies.  The children were encouraged to make predictions and test out their hypotheses.

SUNSHINE SCHOOL IS HAVING AN OPEN HOUSE ON SATURDAY, MAY 21ST FROM 10-2.

OPEN HOUSE… Field Trip Information… and reminders.

We are having an open house on Saturday, May 21st from 10-2.  Please stop by… bring a friend…. do a craft… meet the teachers…. tour the classrooms……  fun for everyone!

The 3 Year Old Classes will be having their annual trip to Mama’s Pizza on the 18th and 25th of May at 10:15.  Please see the bulletin board in the coat room for sign up sheets.

The 4 Year Old Classes are heading to Akindale Horse Farm for their field trip on May 24th and 26th at 9:15, with a rain date of Friday the 27th.   Please see the coat room for sign up sheets.  As per Akindale Farm’s request, there are no siblings or extra children permitted on this trip.  It’s one chaperone per Sunshine child.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

The Color of the Month is BLUE,  the letter of the week is Y and the word of the week is YES.

Please remember that Thursday is LIBRARY DAY for the 4 year old class.  Books must be returned on or before that day.  Thank you.
