In Memoriam:  Bernie Ente

For over 30 years Bernie Ente of Ente Studios served as The Sunshine School’s photographer on “Class Picture Day.”  Many of you may remember Bernie as “Mr. Tunafish.”  Unfortunately, this year Bernie was ill and unable to take our photos.  Sadly we learned of Bernie’s death a few weeks ago.

Picture Day was an EVENT when Bernie showed up.  He was an amazing man who could always bring out a smile in every child.  Bernie was not only our school photographer but a dear friend, who we shall all miss.  No one will be able to replace him in our eyes.  He brought joy into our day and gave us lasting memories of our children.  The halls of The Sunshine School will forever be a testament to Bernie Ente’s professionalism and humanity.

Spring Reminders

**Sunshine Garden – Photo by Mrs. Reed**

Finally!  The warm weather has arrived and the Sunshine School is blooming with color… inside and outside.   The children have been busy as bees in the art room and their creations are adding some much needed spring fever to our walls.   Also, Mrs. Muller has been gardening with the students and they are delighted to see their seeds growing into tiny plants.

A few reminders:

  • Picture packages are due back with payments and any returned photos.  Thank you.
  • 3 Year Old Conferences are Monday May 2.  There is NO SCHOOL on this day.
  • The 3 Year Old Pizza Trips to Mama’s are on May 18th and 25th.  Please see the sign up sheets in the coatroom.   Anyone who is not able to view the sign up sheets can call the school for more information.
  • Now that the weather has finally warmed up and the sun is getting hotter, please remember to apply sunblock to your child as needed.  Also, we would prefer that children not wear flip flops or backless sandals to school.   These types of shoes can be the cause of mishaps and falls on the playground.  Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

April Showers

April Showers Bring May Flowers at the Sunshine School!

The Sunshine School enrichment classes welcomed the month of April by making rain sticks and watching it rain in a glass in their classrooms (condensation).  In the art room, the day began with water color painting, sprinkling salt “raining” and watching the effect when the paper dried “rain drops”!  Seeds have also been planted by all of the classes and we look forward to our May Flowers after our April Showers.
